About FairDraw
FairDraw is run by Harrison Jones, a developer in Cape Town who builds software for small businesses, including some in the UK prize-competition industry. This page says what that means for what you read here.
Disclosure
- I built and run a personal, read-only tool that reads public competition pages and alerts me when a competition looks worth entering. It never buys anything. The data in the audits and guides comes from the same public pages.
- I run Whats-Hub, which sells WhatsApp messaging software to businesses. Some of its customers are competition operators. Those operators are not audited on this site, to avoid any question of favour or retaliation. If that rule ever changes it will be stated here.
- FairDraw is personal, unpaid, and not connected to any operator, platform or regulator.
How audits are done
- Public pages only. No logins, no accounts, no private data, no interaction with any admin or restricted area.
- Customer and winner names are never published. Ticket numbers carry the analysis. Company officers named in the public register may be named as the company's officers.
- Every audit links its data file and its method so anyone can rerun it. Source pages are archived on the day.
- Audits describe what the published results are and are not consistent with. They do not state or imply why. See the method page on what a result does and does not show.
Right of reply
Before an audit is published the operator is sent the figures by email and asked to explain how the draw is run, with at least seven days to answer. Any response is published in full and unedited on the audit page, at any time, before or after publication. If a response shows a factual error, the page is corrected and the correction is dated. If an operator can show the draw is sound, the audit says so just as plainly.
Corrections
Errors of fact are corrected on the page with a dated note. The data files are never silently changed; a corrected file is published alongside the original.
